Will a laptop fit in the Mini?
No. The Mini has a padded pocket sized for a tablet or iPad. For a laptop choose the Medium (up to 14") or the Large (13" and 16").
How big is it?
26 cm tall (plus a 12 cm roll-top), 22 cm wide and 12 cm deep. That's 7 litres closed and up to 9 litres with the roll-top extended.
Is it good for travel?
It's ideal as a personal item on a flight or a city-break day bag: light, water-resistant, with the anti-theft pocket against your back for passport and phone.
Can I wash it?
Yes. Machine wash at 30°C on a delicate setting, then air dry. Don't tumble dry or iron, and skip bleach and harsh chemicals.
How much is delivery, and can I return it?
Free UK delivery on orders over £70. Standard delivery is £3.95 (2–3 working days) and express is £6.50 (next working day). Order before 1pm Monday to Friday and we dispatch the same day. We currently deliver to the UK and the USA; US orders ship from our US warehouse with duties included. You have 30 days to return anything unused in its original packaging, sale items included, for a full refund. Every bag is also covered by our 2-year warranty against manufacturing defects.

The Hackney Mini: small backpack, big day out

The Mini is the Hackney for days when you don't need a laptop. At 26 × 22 × 12 cm (plus a 12 cm roll-top) and up to 9 litres, it carries a tablet in its padded pocket, a 500 ml bottle, purse, phone, keys and a light jumper, and still looks neat on your back.

It's made from 12 rescued plastic bottles, water-resistant with no PFA coatings, and has the same details as its bigger siblings: a roll-top with zip and extra-strong magnets, a hidden anti-theft side pocket, two front zip pockets, padded straps and an internal key hook. Machine wash at 30°C when it needs it.

Need room for a laptop? Step up to the Medium (fits up to 14") or the Large (fits 16").

Perfect bag for travelling

The Medium bag is surprisingly roomy, with just the right number and size of pockets. I chose the slate grey colour as it was reduced, so I got a bargain price as well! Bought as a carry-on bag for a transatlantic flight, and as a day pack for a lot of walking around NYC, it has been extremely comfortable. There was a hitch with the Royal Mail tracking and the Customer Services people were super-responsive and checked the delivery for me. Love Kind Bag!

You wouldn’t believe the number of backpacks I’ve been through as a neurodivergent SEND parent. I always need a bag large enough to accommodate my everyday needs (I have a lot of needs!) that I can just hoik on my back and fly out the door without worrying about the rain or what the bag does to my menopausal joints. This is perfect. It has a range of compartments including a secret pocket tucked in the side and a clasp on an elastic lead for your keys. Oh, and it’s made of recycled plastic bottles which ensures both its hardwearing nature and eco-credentials, AND comes in a range of mouth-watering shades. I had such a hard time choosing my colour but the fact that black was not the only choice had me skipping for joy! Much recommended ✨

Best Do-It-All Bag Ever!

I am thrilled with my navy medium Hackney backpack, bought at an extremely reasonable price in the sale. It is smart and incredibly practical, and can carry lots of my daily requirements without being too bulky - I've used it as a gym bag as well. I got caught in a heavy shower recently and everything inside stayed as dry as a bone. I love the compartments inside and out, and the straps are comfortable and easy to adjust. The bag is very well-made, with sturdy zips and magnet fasteners that function very well. I can see myself getting lots and lots of use out of it! Lastly, customer service was exemplary - the bag was promptly despatched and well-packed. I love the ethos of this company and heartily recommend its products.
